Who Are We Helping?
We are currently concentrating on a community
of truly special families who live in the Holy City of Tsfat.
While many of these families have made a conscious choice to sacrifice material aspects of life in exchange for the mitzvah of kindling the lights of Torah in this Holy City, other families are unfortunately victims of illness and difficult circumstances.
Why Specifically Food for Shabbat?
Every family should be able to sit down to basic Shabbos meals, and take a break
from the stresses of weekday life. One can't begin to imagine the relief that a
family feels when much needed food arrives
at their door. This alone gives great hope to those who are suffering. Shabbos itself has the power to heal, so helping a family honor
Shabbos can bring great bracha to
all those involved.
What Are the Operational Logistics?
Our warehouse, previously in the industrial section of Tsfat, and now closer to the community in the Old City, serves as headquarters for our organization. Dry goods and frozen items are purchased in quantity to obtain the best possible prices. Food is delivered in re-usable plastic containers to the homes of the recipients and it appears as though they are receiving a delivery from one of the local
grocery stores. A mitzvah that spares any possible embarrassment on the part of the recipient is the highest level of chesed.
